San Diego Parents for Education (“the Committee,” “we,” “us”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect through this website, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to this website and to electronic communications sent through it; it does not cover information collected offline or the practices of third-party services we link to.

This website is operated by San Diego Parents for Education, a general purpose committee registered with the California Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC # 1476073). When you make a contribution through this site, we collect the information you provide on the donation form: your name, email address, phone number, mailing address, employer, and occupation. California law requires campaign committees to collect and report certain contributor information (such as name, address, occupation, and employer) for contributions at or above reporting thresholds.

Donations are processed by Stripe, a third-party payment platform. The Committee does not receive or store your full payment card details through this website.

If you contact us by email or otherwise volunteer information to us, we collect what you choose to provide. Providing this information is voluntary.

Like most websites, our hosting infrastructure may automatically log technical information such as IP address, browser type, and pages visited. We use this information to operate and secure the site.

We use the information we collect to:

• Process contributions and respond to your messages and inquiries;
• Send updates and communications you have requested;
• Operate, secure, and improve this website;
• Comply with campaign finance and other legal obligations.

You may opt out of our communications at any time by contacting us or using the unsubscribe method included in the communication.

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with service providers who help us operate the site and the Committee (such as email and payment vendors) under obligations to protect it; when required by law — including contributor disclosures mandated by California campaign finance law; to protect the rights, safety, or property of the Committee or others; or to enforce our terms.

If you provide your mobile number and check the consent box on a sign-up form, you agree to receive text messages from San Diego Parents for Education at that number. Donations may be solicited. Message and data rates may apply, and message frequency varies. You can unsubscribe at any time by replying STOP, or reply HELP for help.

No mobile information will be shared by us with third parties/affiliates for marketing/promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties unless required by law. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect your information. No transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed completely secure, and we cannot warrant absolute security. Where required by law, we will notify you of a data breach affecting your information.

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described above or as required by law, including campaign record-keeping requirements, and then delete or anonymize it.

This site links to third-party services, including our donation processing platform and the websites of candidates we endorse. We do not control and are not responsible for their privacy practices. Please review the privacy policies of any third-party service you use.

This website is not directed to children under thirteen, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us at dev@sdparents4ed.org and we will delete it.

Subject to applicable law, you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of the personal information we hold about you, and you may withdraw consent to communications at any time. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request, and certain information may be exempt from deletion where the law requires us to keep it — including contributor records that must be retained and disclosed under California campaign finance law. We aim to respond within thirty days.

We may update this policy from time to time. Updates will be posted on this page with a revised date, and your continued use of the site after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
